Eight Men Out took home the Championship this year, outlasting the Futurians in what became a two team race in the final two months of the season. In doing so, they relied on the tried and true combination of youth and experience.

Eight Men Out, much criticized during the 2006 season for making a series of what some owners believed were poorly negotiated deals, achieved full vindication by coming into the 2007 season with a cheap talented core of players. During the season, they added significant talent including Albert Pujols, John Smoltz, Trevor Hoffman, and Jake Peavy, among others. By mid-May, Eight Men Out had moved up into third place, and by late June grabbed hold of first place, only to lose hold to the Futurians for a brief two week period during August. After that time, despite the best efforts of the Futurians, Eight Men Out's superior talent owned the day, and ultimately delivered the Championship.

This is the first Championship for Eight Men Out, and the first year since 2004 that the VLFB has crowned a first time winner (and only the second time this has occurred since 1998). The Futurians second place finish is their best result since also being the runner up in 2002.

Congratulations are also in order for the third, fourth, and fifth place finishers. Shu's Cru adds to its almost legendary status as strong finishers, vaulting into third in the final days of the season.
The Barbarryans, although relegated to fourth by the Shu's Cru surge, nevertheless have achieved an unprecedented milestone, by now finishing in the money for the last seven consecutive seasons. Red Storm also has now monied in the last two seasons, following up on its second place status from 2006.
